Sometimes our life gets so busy that most days just fly by without us giving them a second thought. Therefore, ‘Life Happens’ is an occasional recap on what has been happening in our neck of the woods during the past month or two…
Phew! We have managed to survive the past couple of months in a whirlwind fashion!
While the kiddos seemed to have really enjoyed the Drawing (both), Mad Science (the Girl) and the Chess (the Boy) classes that they were enrolled in, I am honestly glad that these 7-week long after-school classes have finally come to an end. Even though 7 weeks may not sound like too much of a commitment, but it did feel a bit overwhelming when adding that on top of juggling 2 basketball practices, 2 basketball games and swimming make-ups (due to basketball game schedule conflicts) every single week for the past two months, in addition to keeping up with their regular schoolwork assignments.
Speaking of basketball, both kids had a lot of fun playing this season, though the Girl the chatterbox treated it more like a social event (she had conversations with the girl(s) she guarded during the games such as asking for their names and their favorite colors, etc. 😂😂) while it was more competitive for the Boy. He had such a great time playing with his friends from school and their team finished the season as the 4th grade champion!
Junior Ninja Warrior
Hubby has been taking the kids to a Ninja Warrior Training gym on Sundays since December, figuring that it was a good alternative for them to burn off some steam during the cold winter months. Both of them enjoy playing around different obstacles, but the Girl has especially taken a liking to it and has really excelled being the monkey she is. A few weeks ago she participated in a local Junior Ninja Warrior competition, and she finished 2nd place in the age 5-10 group, against competitors from 3 different ninja training gyms! And her time wasn’t too much behind the first place boy who’s almost 3 years older and much taller! So proud of our little ninja!!
I had two work trips scheduled for March which is pretty unusual as I typically don’t need to travel much for work. I was in Chicago the first week of the month, and then was supposed to head to Scottsdale, AZ last week for my company’s annual colleague conference. Unfortunately the Girl caught a stomach bug just before I had to leave, and there was just no way I could leave her like that so the trip was cancelled at the last minute.
Bon Jovi Concert
What can I say about Bon Jovi? They are only my favorite band since junior high and it’s just amazing that they are still going strong after 35 years in the industry. I was so happy for the opportunity to see them in concert. Even though JBJ is older now and doesn’t exactly hit those crazy high notes as beautifully as he did before, his energy and passion is really what makes it a fun event. And to hear/watch the entire arena belting out their classic hit songs together was just pure awesomeness!
After ALL that’s been going on, I’d say that we are definitely ready to take a break from it all with a little spring break road tripping to Mall of America, by way of Chicago. 😃
